Explore Edinburgh’s Shopping Districts in a Weekend9 September 2012
When it comes to a weekend away, what better excuse do you need than for a spot of shopping? And Edinburgh is the ideal place to do it. Whether you are going with your friends or with a loved one, Edinburgh has a lot of offer and thanks to the international airport it’s quick and easy to get to from anywhere in the UK. However to really make the most of the shopping, you will need to use car hire in Edinburgh.
If you love designer labels, then head to Harvey Nichols which is located in the heart of Edinburgh in St Andrew’s Square. Here you will find clothing and accessories from the likes of Prada and Stella McCartney. Just around the corner on Multrees Walk you will find yet more designer shops including Emporio Armani and Mulberry. The nearest parking area to St Andrew’s Square is the car park at Waverly Station which is approximately a ten minute walk away.
For high street brands, both George Street and Princes Street offer an array of well-known shops including Zara, Gap and H&M. Parking for these can be found at the station or on King’s Stable Road.
If you prefer out of town shopping, Meadowbank Retail Park is located on London Road approximately 2 miles from the centre of Edinburgh and has its own parking. Here you will find TK Max and Brantano amongst other stores. In the other direction, around a 10 minute drive away is Ocean Terminal which is Edinburgh’s biggest shopping centre with over 70 stores. It is also home to a range of restaurants and eateries to keep you fuelled whilst shopping.
Finally if you prefer more independent and boutique style shops, head out of Edinburgh to the Lothian towns of Bathgate and Linlithgow which are around 20 miles away. The shops here offer both charm and character.
Weekend car hire from Edinburgh is the perfect way to get around all the shopping districts with ease.
